Born in 1950, Michel Parmigiani started his watchmaking education at Val-de-Travers school of watchmaking and the Technicum in La Chaux-de Fonds. Following, he would go on to study the specialization of restorative watchmaking, an incredibly complex aspect of Horological restoration and preservation.

As the quartz crisis raged during the 1970’s and 80s, Michel Parmigiani maintained his ideals of mechanical watchmaking and further embraced the fusion of mechanical artistry through his founding of  “Mesure et art du Temps”.  Monsieur Parmigiani would continue to gain international recognition for his ability to repair the most difficult historical complications as well as create complicated icons of the 21st century.

A firm favorite of collectors of movements of the highest quality and precision, the Parmigiani Fleurier manufacture was born in 1996 with the vision of spreading and maintaining knowledge in building movements of the highest quality. Every single watch is made with extreme attention to detail and finished to the highest quality.

Although the Toric Tourbillons of this generation are most often known with the Cotes de Geneve finish dial, the present lot is distinguished by its unique hand engraved dial, an exemplary display of Michel Parmigiani’s work as a watchmaker both mechanically and aesthetically.

Mr. Parmigiani created his first wristwatch collection, “Toric”, designed and crafted to be a perennial masterpiece that would sustain through generations of watchmaking. The Toric Collection houses some of the most complicated movements designed by Michel Parmigiani. One such example is the Toric Tourbillon, Lot 127. This one-of-a kind timepiece presents the absolute apex of Michel Parmigiani’s craft as a watchmaker with its special-order hand engraved dial and tourbillon.
