Lot Essay

“By emphasising the intrinsic qualities of the materials and their chromatic characteristics, Nai creates heterogeneous and eclectic works in which a rigorous minimalism and the echo of the canons of arte povera are interpreted in a way that finds in its own cultural identity a totally new, original and personal formal balance, a language in which contemporary synthesis and Baroque exuberance, order and chaos coexist at the same time. A duality that clearly emerges in his choice of using humble and discarded materials for his artistic practice, thus alluding to the multiple contradictions and tensions – social, environmental, cultural – that run through his time” (B. Pavan, ‘Manish Nai’, Artemorbida website, accessed July 2022).
