This view depicts on the left the Church of San Giorgio Maggiore and on the right the Punta della Dogana. Giacomo’s father, Francesco Guardi, painted a similar view in a large canvas in the Glasgow Museums (inv. 184; see A. Morassi, Guardi. Antonio e Francesco Guardi, Venice, 1975, no. 422, ill.).
