Lot Essay

A pair of court ladies of this model, but without the plinth bases and dating to 1740-60, is in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum, illustrated by C. Clunas, Chinese Export Art and Design, London, 1987, p. 51. A similar pair sold Christie's, New York, 26 January 2006, lot 72.
