Lot Essay

Richard Edward Miller probably painted the present work during the early part of his fifteen year sojourn in Paris from 1899-1914. A large-scale café scene titled Café L’Avenue, Paris, from circa 1906-1910 is in the collection of the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens in Jacksonville, Florida.
