A-One (Anthony Clark) was a prolific New York City based graffiti artist. He began tagging trains in the mid-1970s, greatly inspired by his mentor and friend Jean-Michel Basquiat. He was a member of Rammellzee’s graffiti crew, among other graffiti artists focused on bringing art and music from the Bronx and Queens to the downtown art scene. In his practice, A-One developed a dynamic style he called "aerosol expressionism," which continues to influence street art today. Notably, A-One was the youngest participant in the Venice Biennale in 1984.
