Les œuvres nacrées de Line Vautrin, rares et sensibles, témoignent de l’exceptionnelle collaboration artistique que l’artiste a pu entretenir avec son mari, Jacques Armand Bonnaud. Illustrateur, décorateur - notamment de la famille royale du Maroc - mais aussi costumier et aquarelliste, cet artiste protéiforme va fournir à Line Vautrin quelques dessins qu’elle traduit sur ses boîtes en nacre. Comme pour s’adapter au matériaux qui supporte son trait, Jacques Armand figure couramment sur ces pièces un bestiaire maritime épousant la forme de chacun des coquillages utilisés. Il créé ainsi des pièces uniques aux motifs sans cesse réinterprétés élégamment enserrés de métal doré suivant au plus près les contours de la nacre. On delicate shell lids, fine grooves feature a universe populated by creatures and seafaring shapes. Rare and sensitive, mother-of-pearl works by Line Vautrin testify to the exceptional artistic collaboration that she had with her husband, Jacques Armand Bonnaud. Illustrator, decorator —notably for the Moroccan royal family—but also a costume designer and watercolourist, this protean artist provided Line Vautrin with some drawings that she transposed on her mother-of-pearl boxes. As if to adapt to the material that supports his sketching, Jacques Armand commonly figures on these pieces a maritime bestiary that follows the shape of each of the shells used. He thus creates unique pieces with constantly reinterpreted motifs, elegantly encased in gilded metal following the contours of the mother-of-pearl as closely as possible.
