In 2020, F.P. Journe launched to great acclaim a new version of the Quantième Perpétuel. Fitted with a rich blue guilloché dial with white gold indexes, it was available in either platinum or 18k pink gold and with a choice of either 40mm or 42mm case diameter.
The F.P. Journe Quantième Perpétuel is a perpetual calendar of brilliant clarity. The design, whilst featuring several functions, is bold, uncluttered and almost minimalist. The sublime blue dial has applied white gold numerals graduated in size where necessary to allow space for the indications of large date, days of the week and months, central leap-year indication, and power reserve sector. A flush button is concealed under one lug for quick and easy correction of the months. The ‘instantaneous jump’ is powered by an ingenious F.P.Journe designed system that accumulates energy and then releases it instantaneously when the date, day or month changes. The rose gold automatic 1300.3 calibre automatic movement has a 120 hour power reserve and uni-directional automatic winding via the off-centre 22k Gold rotor

The perpetual calendar is one of the most useful of all watchmaking complications, automatically taking into account the variable length of the months and four-year leap-year cycle. Unsurprisingly, F.P.Journe’s automatic perpetual calendar wristwatch presents a highly distinctive and individual aesthetic compared to the perpetual calendar watches of other brands. Journe’s Quantième Perpétuel is very easy to use, with all corrections except for the quick adjustment of months, which is facilitated by a protected and hidden corrector lever beneath the lug at 1 o'clock, being made via the three-position crown. F.P. Journe describes the Quantième Perpétuel succinctly: “A movement able to identify leap years has a real mechanical memory. A small toothed planet wheel connected to the month’s mechanism performs a complete rotation in four years. During the fourth year, this mechanism displays 29 February before directly moving on to 1st of March. Just as the moon moves around the Earth, this planet wheel rotates on its own axis resting on a swivel wheel. This complication, which is both useful and demonstrates technical prowess, is one of the masterpieces of the watchmaking art.”
