One of the great Lange rarities, this platinum Lange 1 with silver dial and fitted with the spectacular solid platinum ‘Wellendorff’ bracelet has legendary status to collectors and is almost impossible to find on the open market today. Indeed, very few examples are known publicly. Bestowing an entirely different aesthetic to the familiar model, it is unsurprising that the owner of the Ultimate Collection chose the rarest, most beautiful and most expensive Lange 1 as a fitting addition to the collection. In common with all the fine watches of this collection, this reference 101.325 has been carefully preserved in immaculate mint condition.
One of the new models launched when the Lange & Söhne brand was re-established in 1994 was the platinum cased Lange 1 with silver dial. With an almost monochrome appearance, this model proved to be very popular and quickly became nicknamed the ‘Stealth’ due to its discreet styling.
Of course, the chief glory of the present watch is the exquisite and superb quality solid platinum bracelet made for Lange by the very prestigious Pforzheim based jewellery maker Wellendorff. The company produced several bracelet designs for Lange, as they had previously done for Patek Philippe, although today Wellendorff no longer produce bracelets and the Lange 1 is no longer offered with a factory bracelet option. Due to its huge cost at the time, very few examples were made and therefore the Lange 1 with Wellendorff bracelet is an extreme rarity.
