Lot Essay

Consigned by the original owner, the present reference 1680 is an extremely well-preserved example of the Submariner Date model, fitted with a matte MK I dial. Furthermore, the present timepiece is offered with the full set of accessories. The creamy luminous accents are in a shade perfectly matching the luminescence of the hands. The case shows strong proportions and well-defined edges to the lugs.

Reference 1680
The icon of Rolex sports and dive watches, ref. 1680, was introduced in 1969 with a date indicator as well as the Cyclops magnifier. During its time of production the model has encountered a multitude of variations of dials, all illustrating the incessant quest for innovations by the firm, while staying true to its heritage.
