Lot Essay

The present factory-set timepiece is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful variants ever created for the Daytona line. Precious factory-set Cosmograph Daytona are among the rarest of all modern production. In the last few years, factory-set jewelled Rolex references have become the super-hot watches of choice for the international elite.

The present references 16589 showcase the classic combination of a white gold case with baguette-cut sapphire-set bezel and a pavé-diamond dial enhanced by sapphire-set indexes. Early precious factory-set jewelled Daytona such as the present watch, powered by the Zenith-based automatic caliber 4030 introduced in 1988, are particularly hard to find. This watch is one of the exceedingly few examples of this specific variant of the reference to appear in public to date.

Rarely offered at auction and always in huge demand, this factory-set jewelled Daytona reference 16589 offers collectors the chance to acquire without delay one of these much coveted Rolex rarities.
