Il délaisse la perfection géométrique au profit d’une asymétrie poétique et joue avec la plasticité de la matière pour inventer des formes au service de pièces sculpturales. Notre lampe provient de la collection, récemment redécouverte, de Roland Chanteur, l’un des derniers directeurs de la galerie M.A.I. Créée en 1939 par Yvonne Zervos, la galerie fût un des lieux incontournables de la scène artistique parisienne au service du Design et de la céramique jusqu’à sa fermeture en 1991.Inspired by the work of Paul Klee and then by his encounter with Pierre and Véra Székely, André Borderie became known as a ceramist, which allowed him to give free rein to his inventiveness by breaking free from the usual rules of the trade. He abandoned geometric perfection in favour of a poetic asymmetry and played with the plasticity of the material to invent shapes for sculptural pieces. Our lamp comes from the recently rediscovered collection of Roland Chanteur, one of the last directors of the M.A.I. gallery. Founded in 1939 by Yvonne Zervos, the gallery was one of the key venues featuring the Parisian art scene at the service of Design and ceramics until its closure in 1991.
