Reference 3670A
The story of reference 3670A’s creation is a fascinating one. It started when, in 1996, 16 carefully stored and unused historic caliber 13’’’130 chronograph movements were discovered on the 5th floor of Patek Philippe’s Rue du Rhone boutique. Originally made in 1948 and regulated back in 1955, Philippe Stern immediately realized that these movements could be used to create a very special new model, so exclusive it could only be offered to his most loyal clients. The movements, with serial numbers in the 869’2** range were fully recommissioned in Patek’s workshops in readiness for their new incarnation. Another unique and interesting aspect of these historic movements is that because the movements were made in the mid-20th century, they bear the Geneva Seal mark that Patek Philippe had stopped using for their usual modern production after it was superseded by the familiar PP seal. In 2011, the completely restored movements were cased in classic stainless steel cushion-shaped cases that successfully evoke Patek Philippe’s iconic chronographs of the early 20th century.
