These abstract landscapes act as ‘sites’ in the broadest sense. The sense is broad because the ‘site’ these paintings depict can be both macrocosmic and microcosmic and also both representational and metaphoric. Some of the paintings unequivocally show a site of ‘memory’. – Wu Hung
