The furniture of Claude Lalanne balances on the border of functionality and decoration. Claude designed furniture that was as useful as it was beautiful by drawing inspiration from the organic components commonly found in the world around her. The suite of Ginkgo furniture created by Claude exemplifies this duality. The sculptural furniture transforms ordinary flora, from the artist's home in Ury, France into elements that bend and shape themselves into a form that resembles something familiar. This set was installed in the home of the current owner under the supervision of the artist.
