Lot Essay

The inscription is an extract from the Monasteries of Luoyang, a book written by 6th century writer Yang Xuanzhi who related to the introduction of Buddhism to China. An embroidered album of twenty leaves Fan Fang Yuan Cheng, depicting the same subject, dated Qing dynasty, is in the collection of the National Palace Museum, Taipei, inventory number Gusi00007400004.
