Elle repose sur un petit pied droit circulaire et est ornée sur ses deux faces d'une fleur de lotus stylisée sous une frise de grecques incisée. Elle est munie de deux prises latérales sculptées en forme de phénix.

Lot Essay

J. Ayers and J. Rawson noted that cups of this form first appeared in yingqing porcelain of the late Song period and remained popular throughout the Ming dynasty. Compare to an example, dated to the Yuan-Ming dynasty, in the Musée Guimet, Paris, included in the exhibition, Chinese Jade Throughout the Ages, and illustrated in Transactions of the Oriental Ceramic Society, 1973-75, no. 326.
