Provenance
Gifted by the artist to the present owner, New Delhi, circa 1960s
The present owner recalls, "In the 1960s, after studying Indian music and dance at university with visiting professors from India, I spent some time in India to further my studies. As luck would have it, I had the good fortune to meet Maqbool Husain at a social gathering. Upon learning that I was in India to study dance and music, he gathered some supplies, and in a wonderfully impromptu moment, created this marvelous work of art to give me, which celebrates the rich Indian culture of music, dance and folklore!"
