Lot Essay
The swagged oval wine-cooler relates to one formerly at Parham, Sussex and sold by the executors of the late 17th Baroness Zouche of Haryngworth; Christie's, London, 21 April 1966. The latter differed from the present cooler in the fluted upper edge, guilloche carved lower edge and Ionic capitalled and paneled tapering legs. The cooler formed part of a dining-room suite which included two bowfront serving-tables and a pair of knife-urns and pedestals. The Parham wine-cooler was later sold from the Palm Beach Residence of Mrs. Charles Wrightsman; Sotheby's, New York, 5 May 1984, lot 176. (See: H. Roberts and C.
