Lot Essay

The origin of the frosted effect to the gold is the 2017 collaboration between Audemars Piguet and the fourth-generation Florentine jewellery designer Carolina Bucci. Florence is famous for its centuries old tradition of innovative metalworking techniques, the frosted finish on this Royal Oak model is created by beating the gold with a diamond-tipped tool to leave micro dents on the surface. The finished effect is like sparkling frost, glittering and supremely elegant.

In 2017, Audemars Piguet introduced the reference 15410, a 41-mm-size white gold Royal Oak with the same frosted decorative technique. In order to respect the contours of the case, the individual components to be finishing by hand.
