Lot Essay

Highly attractive and rare, the present timepiece features a beautiful grossular garnet rubellite dial set with diamond at 6 and 9 o'clock. This dial is amongst the most coveted natural hardstone dials to be found on a modern Day-Date. Aside from its rarity, each grossular dial vary in appearance and provide varying shades or colors. Preserved in very good overall condition, the case back retains the original protective sticker.

The Day-Date, Rolex’s first timepiece to display a separate day and date feature, was launched in 1956 and is one of the firm’s most iconic models. Throughout its production, it was available in multiple variances with examples adorned with precious stones, lacquered or hardstone dials.
