PREMIÈRE FLYING TOURBILLON VOLANT, REF. H3458UNI, CIRCA 2013

This captivating Chanel Première Flying Tourbillon was made as a unique piece for Only Watch 2013. It is a specially re-worked version of the winner of the ‘Ladies Watch’ category at the 2012 Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève. That same year, Chanel had celebrated 25 years of fine watchmaking and marked that important occasion with the release of the high-complication Première Flying Tourbillon model.

Made of 18k white gold and black ceramic, this unique work of horological art is set with 169 brilliant-cut diamonds weighing 2.20 carats. A masterclass of true luxury, this exquisite timepiece epitomizes perfectly Coco Chanel’s philosophy that “Simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance”.

Chanel's creative director, Jacques Helleu was the great designer who oversaw the creation of the Première timepiece. Face-on, the profile evokes a birds-eye view of the Place Vendôme in Paris and pays homage to the stopper of Chanel’s most famous perfume, Chanel N° 5. The camélia, Chanel's emblematic flower is ingeniously incorporated into Renaud & Papi’s manual winding ‘Camélia Flying Tourbillon’ calibre, forming the decoration of the upper plate of the flying tourbillon cage, set with tiny diamonds, it sparkles magically as it rotates.
