This Roger Dubuis ‘La Monegasque’ Flying Tourbillon was made especially as a unique piece for the 5th edition of Only Watch in 2013.
The unique feature of this incredibly eye-catching timepiece is that for the first time, Roger Dubuis’ automatic caliber RD520 Flying Tourbillon has been housed in a case from the appropriately named for Only Watch ‘La Monegasque’ collection. This highly impressive automatic movement was only, until the present watch was custom-made, available as part of the ‘Excalibur’ collection. The tourbillon watches of the production series of the ‘La Monegasque’ collection were only made in a manually wound version.
With an outstanding and distinctive aesthetic, the flying tourbillon is visible through the dial in the 7 o’clock position. The one-minute flying tourbillon is one of Roger Dubuis’ signature creations and carries the blued steel seconds hand. The automatic winding rotor is displayed in the aperture above. The 44 mm diameter pink gold case is complemented by the oscillating winding mass, as well as the numerals and hands. In the tradition of Only Watch, the anthracite colour of the dial was specially developed for the occasion.
With provenance from the legendary Only Watch charity auction and as a unique piece, this automatic flying tourbillon is a star prize for any collector of modern complicated wristwatches.
