Lot Essay

Bovet have a reputation for producing watches that are somehow extraordinary, and this white gold ‘Butterfly’ Amadeo tourbillon with its impressive and substantial 39 mm. diameter case and openwork dial with stunning baguette diamond-set ‘butterfly’ shaped bridge lives up to this expectation and much more. Not only showcasing brilliant three-dimensional aesthetics and exceptional craftsmanship, it is also a masterpiece of fine watchmaking.

Part of the Amadeo Fleurier Complications Collection, this mesmerizing watch features the manual winding caliber 12BM05 tourbillon movement. The case is perfectly round, following the traditional pocket watch designs of Bovet’s historic past. The beautiful openwork dial focuses on the large symmetrical winged bridge that is set with baguette diamonds which is perfectly contrasted by the stunning blued steel serpentine hands and springs.

The ‘Butterfly’ tourbillon is perfect for both day and evening wear and features Bovet’s ingenious ‘Amadeo’ style convertible case. In 2010, Bovet unveiled the innovative Amadeo convertible case named after Pascal Raffy’s son, Amadeo. Inspired by the 19th century Bovet pocket watches made for the Chinese Emperor, it is an ingenious system by which the Amadeo convertible case can be worn either as a wristwatch, a miniature table clock, or a pocket watch.

Presented in immaculate condition, rarely does a watch of such glittering beauty combine so seamlessly with watchmaking excellence of the highest level.
