Lot Essay

Following the success of the 50th Anniversary Submariner nicknamed the 'Kermit', the brand continued the green colored theme and released reference 116610LV in 2010. The new Submariner featured a silvered green dial, green Cerachrom bezel, and was housed in the next generation 'Maxi' case retaining its 40mm case. It quickly garnered the moniker the 'Hulk' by collectors. The new profile of Rolex sports watches were enhanced with thicker lugs and solid bracelets, making the watch present as more substantial and robust.

The present Submariner is a very rare and important example as it was made for the Sultanate of Oman and covets an Omani Khanjar engraving on the caseback. Furthermore, the outer packaging has the corresponding stamp along with the retailer card labeling the buyer as the Sultanate of Oman.
