The stamp on the verso of this photograph has been identified as M25 in Steven Manford’s book, Behind the photo: the stamps of Man Ray (2009). According to Manford, this is a lifetime stamp used from 1940 to 1951, “the stamp is also found on the backs of photographs Juliet sold to dealers” (pp. 27 & 33).
Jacqueline Duhême (1927-2024), écrivaine et illustratrice, fut l'élève de Matisse. Elle a illustré les livres de grands poètes comme Paul Eluard, Jacques Prévert ou Raymond Queneau, mais aussi des dizaines d'albums destinés aux enfants. En 1961, elle est chargée par le magazine Elle de couvrir la visite à Paris de John et Jackie Kennedy, qu’elle documente par une série d’aquarelles. Le président américain l'invite ensuite à Washington et elle suivra le couple dans leur voyage en Inde, puis le Général de Gaulle en Amérique latine en tant que reportrice-dessinatrice.

She illustrated books by great poets such as Paul Eluard, Jacques Prévert, and Raymond Queneau, as well as dozens of picture books for children. In 1961, she was commissioned by the Elle magazine to cover the visit of John and Jackie Kennedy to Paris, which she documented through a series of watercolors. The American president then invited her to Washington, and she followed the couple on their trip to India. She later accompanied General de Gaulle to Latin America, also serving as a reporting artist.
