Lot Essay

Paul Howard Manship’s The Moods of Time was exhibited in 1939 at the New York World’s Fair. One element of this allegorical group, entitled Evening, depicts an owl, wings spread, majestically in flight. The present cast was made based on a scale model for Evening.
