Lot Essay

Introduced in 1994, the Omega Speedmaster reference 145.0063 was released as a limited edition of 50 pieces to commemorate the Apollo XI 25th anniversary of the moon landing.

Offered with a rare platinum case and a highly attractive skeletonized dial, the incredible craftsmanship can be attributed to independent watchmaker, Armin Strom. The skeletonized dial and sapphire caseback reveal the Omega base caliber 867, which has been further decorated and skeletonized by Mr. Storm.

On 21 July 1969, Neil Armstrong wore a Speedmaster on his wrist while becoming the first human to walk on the surface of the moon, pronouncing the memorable words 'That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind' as he dropped from the ladder of his spacecraft to make the first human footprint on the lunar surface.
