Design 2017 — An online tour

A 360-degree preview of our October Design and Historical Design sales, featuring pieces by some of the most important names of the last 150 years

On 18 October, Christie’s offers two sales of Design and Historical Design in its King Street saleroom. Among the Design sale highlights are glass masterworks by Carlo Scarpa, vases by Gio Ponti, a wide range of pieces by Ettore Sottsass, and furniture by Finn Juhl, Arne Jacobsen, Le Corbusier, Eames and many more.

For the first time, following successful sales of Chinese and Asian Contemporary Design in Shanghai over the past three years, the London Design sale will include a group of 16 unique or limited-edition pieces by designers from China, Japan, Vietnam and India, such as Alexandre Chary, YênKhê and Hanoia, and Nakagawa Mokkougei.

Also on 18 October, the Historical Design sale features tableware, furniture, vases, figurines and more by some of the most important names of the late 19th and early 20th century, including Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Emile Gallé, Eugene Gaillard, Alphonse Mucha, Josef Hoffmann, and others.

Both sales will be on view at King Street on 16 and 17 October.
