Our online auction of The Collector is led by exceptional examples from private collections, including gold, silver, fayence and porcelain from the collections of Charles Gladstone and Robert G. Vater. Not to be missed are two important Swiss musical enamelled snuff-boxes, a lacquer bonheur du jour by Dasson, 16th-century maiolica, and a spectacular Louis XV fauteuil, amongst many other remarkable and noteworthy pieces.

Highlights of the sale Provenance Revealed: Galerie Steinitz include a Louis XVI giltwood fauteuil by the celebrated maker Jean Boucault for Baron de Breteuil’s appartement in the château de Versailles, and Narcissus contemplating his image in the water, Paris School, recorded in the celebrated collection of Louis-Antoine Crozat, Baron de Thiers — son of the financier Antoine Crozat who was considered the ‘richest man in France.’

Ahead of the highly anticipated sale of The Ann and Gordon Getty Collection at Christie’s New York this October, star lots from the collection, including Canaletto’s Venice, the Grand Canal looking East with Santa Maria della Salute is on view in London as part of its global tour.
