The drawing derives from a print by Antonio da Trento executed after two drawings by Parmigianino in Modena, Galleria Estense for the figure (inv. 1256; D. Ekserdijan, Parmigianino, 2006, no. 171, ill.) and in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam for the landscape (inv. RP-T-1948-366; Op. cit., no. 177, ill.) – the print is published in Adam von Bartsch, Le peintre graveur (B. XII.148.13; see N. Nakahataka, The chiaroscuro woodcut in Renaissance Italy, exhib. cat., Los Angeles, Los Angeles County Museum, 2018, no. 29, ill.).
