Circa 1775, stamped M. OHNEBERG JME, previously further mounted
the black and white striated marble top above a frieze drawer and a fall-front with a trompe l'oeil panel of a bureau plat, opening to a leather-lined writing surface and a later fitted interior with drawers and compartments, above a pair of cabinet doors

Martin Ohneberg, maître in 1773.

Known for his Louis XV/XVI transitional style pieces, most often commodes and and secretaires, Ohneberg specialized in marquetry panels of bouquets of flowers, vases and musical trophies -- all of which can be found in abundance in the present example.
