A brown colt bred in 1841 by George Knox and a full-brother to Birdcatcher, Faugh-A-Ballagh won the Cesarewitch and St. Leger Stakes. He sired Fille de L'Air (1861) who won both The Oaks and French Oaks Stakes (Prix de Diane), and Leamington (1853) who became a leading sire in America.
