Acquired directly from the artist by the present owner in New Delhi during the 1950s.

Lot Essay

This lot is one of several Jamini Roy paintings acquired directly from the artist's dealer/studio by the consignor's father during a diplomatic posting at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi in the 1950s. Along with other Indian artworks acquired during that posting, this Jamini Roy painting has been in the family since it was purchased over 50 years ago.
