Lot Essay

The present watch is a rare example of the first generation "Oyster Cosmograph" reference 6265 model, introduced in 1971. It shows a rather unusual signature, featuring the writing "Daytona" in a smaller size and much closer to the 12 hours recorder than the earlier models (see the previous lot). It is furthermore preserved in a very good overall condition.

For detailed description and illustrations of various reference 6265 versions see I Cronografi Rolex - La Leggenda, Pucci Papaleo Editore, pp. 336 - 349.
