Lot Essay

Chintan's mannequin-like figure, texture-mapped with Rajasthani miniature-style-images, stems from the losses of identity, cultural specificity and ethnicity resulting from globalization. The nude female figure floats within a field of flat color marked only by a shadow of a different figure poised behind her. Through his computer-generated image the artist addresses the nexus between homogenization and hybridization that is rampant in modern-day society.
