Lot Essay

Rolex produced the reference 16758 from circa 1978 until 1988. For a brief history of the GMT-Master line of watches see Skeet & Urul, Vintage Rolex Sports Models, pp. 58-59.

A rare and unusual facet of the present watch is the dial which over the years has changed from black to a charismatic gray/brown color.
