Lot Essay

An early work by Khosrow Hassanzadeh, this depicts members of the artist's family as victims in of the destructive Iran-Iraq War.
This work was exhibited at Hassanzadeh's first exhibition outside Iran, which was sponsored by the World Bank. Held at the Diaorama Arts Centre in London, and entitled Life, War & Art, the Paintings of Khosrow Hassan Zadeh,it was curated by Rose Issa, and part of the largest Iranian Film Season program of events. This was the largest ever Iranian film season at the National Film Theatre in London (Life & Art: The New Iranian Cinema)
