Lot Essay

A wide range of dates are given to this series in various publications, the earliest 1954 and the latest 2000, the year of Giacomelli's death. This uncertainty is in keeping with his notorious lack of record keeping. Giacomelli rarely dated his work, but when he did, the date recorded refers to print date, in this case, 1974.
