Judy McKie, a self-taught American studio furniture designer, earned a B.F.A degree in painting in 1966 at the Rhode Island School of Design. The playful and distinct animal imagery in her works are inspired from ancient Greek and Egyptian art and various indigneous cultures from around the world. Judy McKie is regarded as a premiere figure in the American studio furniture movement. Her work is included in the collections of prominent institutions such as the Museum of Arts and Design in New York, Rhode Island School of Design and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
