Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with black dial and applied steel hour markers in 1941 and its subsequent sale on 27 December 1941. It is furthermore believed to be one of only four examples of reference 592 in stainless steel to appear in public to date.

Reference 592 was introduced into the market in 1938 and cased in yellow gold, pink gold and stainless steel. It was available with either subsidiary seconds or sweep centre seconds.

For an example of reference 592 see Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, p. 182, pl. 289.
