The ULYSSE NARDIN CIRCUS MINUTE REPEATER is a magnificent complicated horological creation which unites the fascination of animated figures with the endearing charm of the minute repeating mechanism.
The arrestingly beautiful dial is carved from a piece of black onyx and is, at the same time, a stage for the circus performers. Each figure is painstakingly rendered in gold and their acts are performed in sequence every time the repeating slide is activated. The hour chimes are represented by the monkey, who attempts to snatch the sphere juggled by the crown, and in fact, represents the small seconds when the movement is ticking. The tigers paw and the whip of the tamer moves in conjunction with the quarters, and the minutes by the tiger's paw moving alone. Last but not least, during the entire operation of the repeating sequence, the bear bows before the ballerina.
