As an inductee to the Country Music Hall of Fame, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the recipient of the Grammy Legend Award, Johnny Cash's career and talent transcends time and space. Johnny Cash's early road to stardom was made complete with Luther Perkins and Marshall Grant at his side. Together these three talents forged their way on the country music scene and separately Johnny Cash cultivated his unwavering trademark style. With his deep, penetrating voice matched with his sobering lyrics and his black suits, Johnny Cash is quite possibly one of the most iconic and recognizable artists to come out of the country music genre.

This black Fender Malibu is iconic with Cash's performance history in the late 1960s and early 70's. It can be seen in numerous photographs of the period as well as film and television imagery. Considered by many to be one of the top five guitars associated with Cash the black Malibu is featured prominently in Robert Elfstrom's 1969 documentary Johnny Cash - The Man, His World, His Music.
