Lot Essay

After decades of success in America, Paul Flato opened a boutique in Mexico City's fashionable Zona Rosa in 1970. This letter "F" diamond tie clip belonged to him, and he wore it on special occasions as a happy reminder of his life in America. Shortly before his retirement years later, he met his close friend and business partner, Moises Titievsky, for dinner. Paul told him that he planned to move back to Dallas, Texas, to live with his daughters. As a gesture of great affection for Moises, Paul presented the tie clip to him as a gift.
