Lot Essay

The collection of oriental bronzes, lacquer, porcelain, nineteenth-century pictures, watercolours and historical portraits formed by the tea merchant W.R. Winch was sold in these Rooms in sales on 13, 14 and 16 July 1888. The old label on the reverse of this picture seems to refer to a slightly earlier sale, on site at North Mymms Park, in which the present picture would have been included.
