Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with pink dial and raised gold Breguet numerals in 1941 and its subsequent sale on 13 July 1942.

To the best of our knowledge, this watch is the only example of a reference 425 in pink gold with Breguet numerals, confirmed by the Extract from the Archives, known to exist to date. It has furthermore never been offered in public before and stands out by its very attractive and original overall condition.

Manufacture of reference 425 was launched in 1934 and remained in production until around 1960. The majority was cased in yellow gold, only an exceedingly small series was available in pink gold. According to our researches, less than 20 examples of the latter with varying dial versions have appeared in public to date.

Reference 425 is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, p. 134, pl. 189.
