With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with applied hour markers in 1956 and its subsequent sale on 20 August 1958. Furthermore delivered with Patek Philippe contemporary red presentation box.

Examples of reference 2526 in white gold are exceedingly rare; it is thought that less than fifteen examples cased in this exclusive material have appeared in public to date, however only six of them, including the present watch, are fitted with an enamel dial.

In a world where "less is more" has gained actuality as never before, the present "non-complicated" or "time only" wristwatch uniting so many collector-worthy elements is a true connoisseur's dream. The subtle yet masculine white gold case, the warm and continuously attracting enamel dial, the state of the art automatic calibre 12-600 with engine-turned gold rotor and the wonderful, crisp and unrestored condition render this jewel a permanent value for any watch collector.

Although this watch was originally entered in Patek Philippe's archives to have left the manufacture with a leather strap, the present bracelet can be dated shortly later and was most certainly always destined for this reference based on its impeccable fit.

Reference 2526, introduced in 1953, was Patek Philippe's first model featuring an automatic movement, the legendary calibre 12-600 AT.

Other examples of reference 2526 are illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, first edition, pp. 168-169, second edition, pp. 213, 216, 217.

For an example of a reference 2526 in pink gold with black enamel dial and pink gold bracelet and a reference 2526 with Breguet numerals see lots 206 and 295 in this auction.
