Heart-shaped, on oval base, the knopped stem supporting flaring cup and cover chased with lozenges, with silver flowers at base of stem and cup, the finial a bouquet of silver flowers, the cover applied with an openwork border, marked on base, at rim of cup and on cover

Lot Essay

A similar cup, also heart-shaped and with lozenge chasing, by Jeremias II Flicker, dated 1610, is illustrated in Helmut Seling, Die Kunst der Augsburger Goldschmiede 1529-1868, 1980, no. 122. Another heart-shaped standing cup, by goldsmith Georg Müller, Nuremberg, circa 1630, sold Christie's, New York, 23 May 2007, lot 60.
