Each baluster, the spiral-fluted body with alternating matte panels, with two heraldic crest handles and grapevine borders, engraved on either side with a coat-of-arms, with a silver-plated liner and collar, marked under bases

Lot Essay

The arms are those of Thompson for Richard Thompson, Esq., of Kirby Hall, Yorkshire, who married in 1803, Elizabeth, daughter of John Turton, of Sugnall Hall, Staffordshire. The handles are in the form of the Thompson crest.
