Lot Essay

Born in Le Havre, France, Paul Maze knew artists including Raoul Dufy and Georges Braque as a young man, and after the First World War met André Derain and Pierre Bonnard when working in Paris. He later moved to England, and in his art captured events such as the races at Goodwood, the Trooping of the Colour and rowing at Henley.
